I love scarves. All shapes and sizes and colors. I love what you can do with them. They of course can be used for warmth, but in a pinch, they can be a pillow, a snack carrier, a changing table cover, etc. I can testify that the Lovely Lingonberry Eternity Scarf is a great pillow for a road trip! Besides this is a free crochet scarf pattern. Who doesn’t love free? Scroll down for the free crochet scarf pattern. If you would like an ad-free, printable pattern head over to my Etsy shop here.
What is a lingonberry you ask? If you are not from Scandinavia or Eastern Europe you might not have heard of this fruit. It is related to blueberries and cranberries. The plants are grown in forests and usually made into jam or jellies because of their sweet but tart flavor. I think they are so small and cute!
The color of this scarf reminds me of the rich red of lingonberry jam. Of course, my jar came from IKEA. Hey, I love going to IKEA and looking around. Followed by a trip to the cafe. So if you don’t like big box stores you and I might not be able to friends. Don’t worry I support small businesses, too. I’m an equal opportunity shopper. If I like it, I like it.
Your Free Crochet Scarf Pattern
Anyway, I love the idea of a simple, chunky, and lovely scarf that I don’t have to think about matching to my outfit before I run out the door. It goes with everything that’s in winter colors. The stitch is easy and it works up quickly.
This scarf is a really warm one. When you need to really block out the wind and bone-deep chill, you’ll reach for this one. I live in Texas, so this one doesn’t normally get used very often. But, one never knows. Some patterns are straightforward and simple. I love that kind. I’ve tried super lacy beautiful patterns, and I get so frustrated. Trust me, if I can do it and write it, then you can too!
The Lion Brand Hometown yarn comes in a variety of colors if deep red is not your jam. Ha, ha! Not your jam. Get it? This easy to work with yarn comes in primary color, tweeds, pastels, and more. However, if you do go with a print in the Hometown yarn, I would get one extra skein because the yardage will be slightly less than the solids.
This free crochet scarf pattern can be a great last-minute gift that you made with love! Or if you’re anything like me, I have a hard time not keeping everything I make because I love it. Sometimes I have to bargian with myself, that if I buy more yarn and make more items, then I have to make up a couple of gifts and spread the love.
Oh, and you can totally eat some lingonberry jam smothered over some crepes while you are wearing your handmade scarf.
