The spa day crochet washcloth is an easy beginner crochet washcloth pattern that you can use to bust through any cotton leftovers you may have lying around. It is super easy, fun to make, and won’t take twelve years to make! Sometimes you just need a little project to crochet that you will see the reward for your hard work quickly.
What Is A Spa Cloth?
A spa cloth is a cloth made from natural fibers, most often cotton, that is used to remove applied cosmetics such as face masks or scrubs. Many crochet patterns call for super soft cotton so that it is gentle on the skin. I prefer a more textured cotton and textured stitch pattern. The texture really gets the skin nicely polished up through natural exfoliation.
How Do You Crochet A Washcloth?
You can use almost any stitch to crochet a washcloth. Using basic stitches you can create a cloth that will last a long time and serve you well. Washcloths are easy to make because there is no need for shaping. They are great to make when the weather heats up and you want to keep crocheting but there is no need to make an afghan or sweater.
The Rice Stitch
This crochet is not often talked about but it combines the best of both beauty and brains. The way this stitch lays interlocked with itself is quite pretty. The thick nubs created will get your skin clean. This stitch will help you to master the front post double crochet and back post double crochet. Practicing a new stitch with each project will help new crocheters to become smoother in their work. My spa day crochet washcloth uses the rice stitch as the main body plus I have added a single crochet border just to finish it off. Here is a great photo tutorial of the rice stitch at hearthookhome.com.
